Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver near Woodman Street

 
ENCANTO, CA (November 3, 2018) – A woman was killed Saturday evening following a hit-and-run crash on Imperial Avenue. The name of the deceased victim is being withheld, pending positive identification and family notification.
 
According to officers with the San Diego Police Department, the incident took place at about 6:30 PM. The female pedestrian tried to cross near Woodman Street but did not stop for oncoming traffic in the westbound lanes and was struck by a vehicle.
 
Due to the impact of the incident, the victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Meanwhile, the involved vehicle did not stop to render aid and immediately fled the area.
 
Authorities described the hit-and-run vehicle as a black, two-door sedan. There is no description of the driver at this time. Anyone with information about this fatal accident is encouraged to contact the authorities as soon as possible. No further details have been provided to the public at this time, as an investigation is ongoing.
