1 Dead in Oak View Pedestrian Accident on Highway 33 and West Short Street
OAK VIEW, CA (February 5, 2023) – Friday night, a woman died in a pedestrian crash on Highway 33 and West Short Street.
The incident happened at about 7:15 p.m. on Highway 33 and West Short Street.
According to reports, an elderly woman attempted to cross the highway south of West Short Street. Officers noted that the crash scene had no crosswalks.
Meanwhile, a 52-year-old Ojai woman drove southbound on the 33 in a 2018 Chevrolet pickup truck.
Officers said that the pedestrian “inadvertently walked into the path” of the oncoming truck.
Moreover, the crash led to the fatality of the pedestrian. At this time, the authorities haven’t disclosed the identity and information of the deceased due to pending family notification.
Deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office initiated CPR. However, the pedestrian succumbed to injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver pulled over just south of the crash scene and reported the crash to law enforcement.
Moreover, CHP investigators later found out that the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Also, the incident shut down the southbound lanes for nearly three hours for the investigation and cleanup. Moreover, officers detoured traffic around the closure.
