42-Year-Old Woman Hospitalized after DUI Accident near Vermont Street

 
HILLCREST, CA (December 21, 2018) – A woman was seriously injured Friday evening following a scooter crash on University Avenue. The identity of the 42-year-old victim was not immediately disclosed to the public.
 
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened near Vermont Street, at about 9:00 PM. The woman was riding a Bird scooter when she overturned and hit her head.
 
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and rushed the victim to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Further updates on her current medical condition were not provided.
 
Investigators said that the woman was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and had been drinking alcohol. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call San Diego Police Traffic Division investigators at (858) 495-7800 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580- 8477. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
