Yakima, WA (November 12, 2020) – On Sunday, a woman was seriously injured, while police arrested 26-year-old Austin Barnett in a DUI crash on South 40th Avenue and West Chestnut Avenue.
 
Authorities responded to the Yakima crash at about 5:30 p.m., wherein Barnett struck a car, causing a rollover accident.
 
Police said the suspect’s black sedan was speeding and missing a few stop signs until it struck a car with five people inside, including three children.
 
Crash witnesses said the car struck a concrete barrier. As a result, it rolled over.
 
A woman incurred fractured ribs, and her arm was broken in 12 places because of the car accident.
 
Rescuers airlifted her to Harborview Medical Center for advanced treatment.
 
Similarly, they took Barnett to a hospital for injuries.
 
Further, YPD said Barnett had a strong odor of intoxicants. Also, his eyes were watery and bloodshot.
 
The investigating officer found an open beer container and a case of beer in the suspect’s car.
 
They arrested Barnett for DUI and Vehicular Assault.
 
Meanwhile, Barnett told officers he couldn’t remember any details of the accident, nor him drinking alcohol.
