Yelm Woman Injured in Fatal 2-Vehicle Crash on Old Pacific Highway [Lacey, WA]

Lacey, WA (May 6, 2023) – At about 9:18 a.m. on Friday, a Rochester woman died and a Yelm woman sustained injuries following a 2-vehicle crash on Old Pacific Highway.

According to the investigating officers, a Rochester woman was eastbound toward Rockcress Drive. At the same driver, the Yelm woman was westbound on the same road.

The Rochester woman approached a curve and crossed the center line. Her vehicle struck the Yelm driver’s vehicle head-on and rested in the middle of the two lanes blocking the road. The Yelm woman’s car stopped in a driveway on the right shoulder of the road. 

Responding officers declared the Rochester woman dead at the scene. Officers withheld her identity pending notification of kin.

The other woman was rushed to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia with injuries. Officers said she wasn’t wearing a seatbelt when the collision happened.

In the meantime, the officers are investigating the exact cause of the collision.
