Female Pedestrian Fatally Injured by Vehicle near Interstate 5
SACRAMENTO, CA (October 19, 2018) – A woman was killed early Friday morning following a pedestrian collision on Highway 50. The identity of the victim is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 5:00 AM. The victim was walking on the transition lane from Highway 50 to Interstate 5 when she was struck by an oncoming 2002 Toyota Camry.
The pedestrian suffered fatal trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Meanwhile, it is unknown whether or not the driver of the Toyota remained on site to cooperate with investigators. No charges have been filed at this time.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact the authorities as soon as possible. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
