Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Jones Boulevard near Flamingo Road
Las Vegas, NV (September 18, 2020) – A crash on Jones Boulevard killed a bus driver after the bus run her over on Tuesday night in Las Vegas.
The incident happened on September 15 around 8:50 p.m. on S. Jones Boulevard, near Flamingo Road.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said that an RTC paratransit bus was involved in the incident. The bus was about to enter the Destinations Apartment when the driver pulled up to the gate.
The 52-year-old female bus driver then went out of the vehicle to key-in a code. However, LVMPD said the bus was not put in park and thus, it continued forward.
The woman tried to stop the bus but it knocked her down before the bus crashed into the gate. The bus hit the woman and the rear wheels run her over.
Furthermore, the bus hit a GMC pickup in the parking lot that stopped the bus from moving.
Due to the impact of the incident, medics pronounced the woman dead on the scene. Moreover, the victim’s identification is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
LVMPD is continuing the investigation.
