Pedestrian Dead in Hit-And-Run Crash on Pringle Street

San Diego, CA (April 17, 2025) – William John Christian was arrested after a hit-and-run crash on Pringle Street.

Authorities arrested a 58-year-old man on Thursday on suspicion of fleeing the scene after fatally striking a pedestrian with his vehicle last year.

San Diego Police officers took William John Christian, a San Diego resident, into custody just before 8:30 a.m. in the 3400 block of Pringle Street, located south of Old Town. 

The arrest location is less than half a mile from where the deadly collision occurred—on the 2100 block of Hancock Street.

According to investigators, Christian was driving a white 2017 Dodge Challenger southbound when the vehicle struck a 69-year-old pedestrian shortly before 5 a.m. on March 6, 2024. 

Instead of stopping to render aid, the driver continued driving and fled the scene. 

Emergency responders transported the severely injured pedestrian to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. 

Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name, and the vehicle involved in the crash has not been recovered.

Police are continuing their investigation and believe Christian played a direct role in the hit-and-run. Following his arrest, officials booked him into the San Diego Central Jail, where he is being held on $100,000 bail. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday.
