Ventura Motorcycle Crash Seriously Injures Zachary Gregson

Ventura, CA (July 18, 2021) – On Thursday, 22-year-old Zachary Gregson of Somis, a wildlife firefighter was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash on Pacific Coast Highway.

Officers received the accident report at 2:28 p.m. between Solimar Beach and Emma Wood State Beach.

Gregson wassouthbound on his Harley Davidson motorcycle when a 19-year-old Santa Paula woman in a Chevrolet Blazer from the opposite direction turned left into a beach parking lot.

The SUV struck Gregson. He was thrown into a parked car on the highway shoulder.

Rescues rushed him to Ventura County Medical Center.

Gregson suffered multiple fractures and other injuries that led surgeons to amputate his left leg below the knee.

Capt. Brian McGrath of the Ventura County Fire Department confirmed Gregson as a full-time employee of the department who was off-duty at the time of the accident.

He is the son of Mike Gregson, a retired Oxnard police officer and Erica Gregson, a nurse with the fire department.

Moreover, an update on Gregson’s GoFundMe page said he has suffered several complications during his recovery, including a stroke.

Moreover, always be wary of those around you on the road. This is especially true when it comes to sharing the road with cyclists and motorcyclists, who are more vulnerable to injuries following a crash.

Prevent Road Accidents From Happening

While driving is essential for many in order to move about in their lives, it is one of the most dangerous activities performed daily. That is because auto accidents are a major public health threat. Traffic accidents are a leading cause of death for individuals ages 5-64.

That is why it is indeed crucial that we drive defensively in order to avoid accidents as much as possible.

Here are some of the things that we can do to practice defensive driving:

– First of all, always drive at a controllable speed.

– Do not assume you know the other driver’s intention.

– Also, it is good to positively react to other drivers on the reoad.

– This one, we should never neglect: yield at intersections, even if you have right of way.

– Most importantly, stay focused on the road. Remove all distractions such as mobile phones, unstrapped toddlers, etc.
