North Highlands, CA (May 06, 2025) – 30-year-old passenger Volodymyr Molchanovych tragically died in a horrific DUI crash on Watt Avenue.

According to authorities, the shocking incident happened around 10 p.m.

Reports say that a suspected DUI crash involving two vehicles claimed the life of a passenger Sunday night in North Highlands.

Authorities say that a BMW driven by 28-year-old Yurii Shylovets sped south on Watt Avenue and struck a Nissan Altima making a left turn from a business driveway onto North Haven Drive.

The impact caused the BMW to overturn and crash into two large trees. Emergency responders pronounced Molchanovych dead at the scene. Medics transported Shylovets, who was unconscious, to a hospital.

Authorities determined both Shylovets and the Nissan driver, Alvaro Arrendondo Navarro, were under the influence of alcohol and arrested both on suspicion of DUI.
