28-Year-Old Vista Man Killed, Woman Injured in Head-On Crash on State Route 78

 
Ramona, CA (January 08, 2021) – On Thursday, a 28-year-old Vista man died while a 56-year-old woman was injured in a head-on crash on State Route 78.
 
The fatal crash took place a few minutes before 7 p.m. near Magnolia Avenue.
 
Authorities said the Vista man was driving west in a 1998 Honda Civic. For unidentified reasons, his vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a Ram pickup head on.
 
The authorities pronounced the man dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, a medical helicopter crew flew the pickup’s female driver to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.
 
She sustained unspecified major injuries from the crash.
 
Furthermore, police said both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the incident. It was not known if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
 
Police closed State Route 78 between Third Street and Magnolia Avenue for about two hours. Emergency crews operated the stretch as one-way traffic as of 9:15 P.M.
