According to the Cactus Police Department (CPD), the fatal incident happened at about 1:20 a.m. on Hwy 287 in Moore County.

Cactus Police are actively searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run that left the pedestrian seriously injured.

Authorities reported that the victim was struck by a southbound silver or gray passenger car while walking east across the southbound traffic lanes after leaving work. The vehicle’s front end hit the pedestrian before the driver fled the scene without rendering aid.

The victim sustained severe injuries, including multiple broken bones and lacerations on their back and legs, according to Moore County Crime Stoppers. Under Texas law, this hit-and-run incident constitutes a 2nd-degree felony.
