According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the horrific crash happened when a stolen Ford F-250 led troopers on a chase through Austin.

Reports say that the Ford crashed into a Cap Metro bus at the intersection of East 53rd Street and Duval Street. The impact caused the bus to strike another vehicle, which then hit a telephone pole.

Authorities say that the chase began around 11 a.m. near Airport Boulevard and East 51st Street when the driver fled from a DPS trooper.

After briefly evading authorities, the truck was spotted again near East 53rd Street and was pursued by multiple troopers before the crash occurred.

Two suspects fled the stolen vehicle on foot. Authorities arrested the driver, while the passenger remains at large. DPS is working to identify the second suspect.
