LAKE ELSINORE, CA (March 18, 2019) – A 34-year-old male driver went off the jail against charges in a DUI-related hit-and-run collision on $10,000 bail.
Authorities accused Vincent William Jaso of failing to stop at a red light, crashing into another vehicle at an intersection. Jaso also escaped on foot from the area while intoxicated.
According to sheriff’s officials, the collision occurred about 1:25 a.m. on March 15. Furthermore, the crash happened in the area of Diamond Drive and Interstate 15.
“Officers arrived within minutes and were told a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Diamond Drive, failed to stop for the red light at the southbound offramp intersection, and collided with another vehicle,” Sheriff’s Sgt. Glenn Warrington stated. “The driver fled on foot westbound on Diamond Drive and northbound onto Auto Center Drive.”
The authorities started to look for Jaso and found him running in the area of Auto Center Drive. Furthermore, Warrington revealed that they located Jaso near the car dealerships.
“Officers gave chase and were able to apprehend the driver, Mr. Jaso,” Warrington said. “Mr. Jaso had injuries consistent with being the driver of the vehicle which caused the traffic collision.”
Warrington noted that Jaso seemed intoxicated. Authorities detained him on suspicion of a hit and run with property damage and driving under the influence.
