Semi-Truck Driver Wanted for Fatal Pedestrian Collision at Central Avenue Intersection
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 23, 2018) – Authorities are searching for the semi-truck driver involved in a hit-and-run collision that took the life of 27-year-old Victor Hernandez-Perez.
According to investigators, the collision happened last February 23 at the Olympic Boulevard and Central Avenue intersection. Hernandez-Perez was walking near the intersection when he was hit by an 18-wheeler commercial truck. Its driver did not stop and proceeded to travel south on Central Avenue.
Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics arrived at the scene and declared Hernandez-Perez dead on the scene.
The Los Angeles Police Department recently released a surveillance video of the collision to the public. They were able to acquire the name of the trucking company, which is “Chago”. It also made it clear that the truck was dark in color with a white detachable semi-trailer. However, the identity of the driver inside the truck is still unknown.
The family of the victim pleads for the truck driver to come forward. Michael Hernandez, the victim’s nephew, said that they just want to know the truth and finally acheieve justice for the death of their loved one.
LAPD officials stated that a reward of up to $50,000 will be given to anyone who can lead them to the identification, apprehension, and conviction of the suspect.
