Semi Truck and SUV Involved in Afternoon Collision on Highway 101 in Ventura, Injuries Reported

VENTURA, CA (December 12, 2018) – One person was hospitalized following a traffic collision involving a semi truck and an SUV Wednesday afternoon in Ventura.

The collision happened around 3:13 p.m. on Highway 101 at West Main Street.

According to an initial report by the CHP, the semi truck went across all lanes from the slow to the first lane, striking the center divider. A gray GMC Yukon was also involved but no further details were provided.

Deputies from the Ventura Fire Department responded to the scene and found one patient with unspecified injuries. The individual was then transported by ambulance to Community Memorial Hospital in an unknown condition.

There were no descriptions of any vehicular damages but towing services were requested to remove the vehicles from the wreckage.

No additional information was provided at this time. The crash remains under investigation.

To avoid accidents involving semi trucks, passenger and other vehicles should give trucks the room they need to safely negotiate the highways. Maintaining a good distance prevents passenger vehicles from being struck by flying debris, being run into by out-of-control trucks, or simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time when a truck driver is forced to to make a sudden maneuver. Always stay alert and avoid distractions behind the wheel.
