3 Hurt in Fatal Pomona Multi-Vehicle Accident on 10 Freeway and 71 Freeway

 
POMONA, CA (January 26, 2021) – Sunday, Velma Soto, Luis Miranda and Christaphore Ruffin were injured in a fatal crash on the 10 Freeway and 71 Freeway.
 
The incident occurred just after midnight on westbound the 10 Freeway and 71 Freeway.
 
According to reports, a silver 2018 Honda Accord stopped in the number four lane. Then, a 22013 Chevrolet Malibu rear-ended the Honda. The crash then pushed the Honda to hit three people who went out of the vehicle.
 
As a result, a 41-year-old man from South Gate died at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, a 39-year-old Velma Soto and 20-year-old Luis Miranda, both South Gate residents, were transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center with major injuries.
 
Then, the Honda landed on its side near the Kellogg Drive off-ramp. Meanwhile, as the Chevrolet Malibu became disabled in the number two lane of the westbound freeway, a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze struck the Malibu.
 
Also, the 32-year-old Cruze driver Christaphore Ruffin from Barstow was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center after suffering from back pain.
 
“The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu fled the scene prior to the CHP arrival,” said the CHP. They added that by 4:06 a.m., the traffic lanes on the westbound freeway were cleared.
