CHP Investigates Fatal 2-Vehicle Crash on I-80

San Francisco, CA (March 17, 2023) On Wednesday evening, a vehicle collision on Interstate 80 claimed the life of 2 people.

According to the CHP, a fatal 2-vehicle crash happened around 11:20 p.m. on the upper deck of the Bay Bridge. Authorities say that a black Dodge Charger collided with the rear of a big rig on westbound I-80 just before Treasure Island.

Officials say that the Dodge was travelling at a high rate of speed before the collision, while the big rig was travelling at 15 mph. CHP says that a prior 3-vehicle collision may have caused the big rig to slow down.
