Tyrenn Smith and Two Other Teens Die in a collision near Frager Road

 
Kent, WA (June 8, 2020) – Tyrenn Smith died in a car crash Tuesday evening on West Valley Highway.
 
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office says the victim died from multiple severe injuries. Smith, together with two other teen passengers, were all from Kent area.
 
Kent Police Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner said in an e-mail that the incident occurred when a 17-year-old boy drove a compact SUV2017 Hyundai Santa Fe.
 
It was then reported that the SUV left the road and hit a light pole.
 
Moreover, further witnesses mentioned two vehicles stopped for traffic facing southbound in the 27000 block of West Valley Highway. Then an unknown colored vehicle struck the rear bumper of a silver vehicle and made a U-turn going north of West Valley Highway.
 
The silver vehicle that was hit started to chase the vehicle that struck it.
 
The witness also mentioned the vehicles were speeding, and ran over 80 mph in a 40 mph zone. The chasing (silver) vehicle lost control and swerved.
 
The accident site, south of the Green River and LA Fitness, is where the officers found the three teens in the vehicle.
 
Puget Sound Fire and medics were at the scene. Paramedics rushed the other two teens to local hospitals.
 
Sadly, the fleeing vehicle was not located.
 
Kent Police traffic unit continues to investigate in the fatal crash. The police ask anyone who may have further details about the accident to contact them at 253-856-5808.
