Passenger Marquise Echols Dead, Tyler Cochran Arrested in Oceanside DUI Crash

 
Oceanside, CA (December 17, 2020) – On Tuesday, 22-year-old Oceanside man Marquise Echols died, while police arrested 25-year-old Tyler Cochran of Vista in a DUI crash on Interstate 5.
 
The fatal crash took place at about 9:50 p.m., at the state Route 76 transition ramp.
 
Apparently, Cochran, driver of a Honda Accord sedan was traveling at a fast speed when he entered the transition ramp. He swerved left and struck an embankment next to the roadway.
 
Then, the vehicle overturned, and the unrestrained passenger in the back seat was ejected.
 
Finally, Cochran’s vehicle rested on its roof in the left lane of the transition ramp.
 
Rescuers airlifted the ejected passenger, Marquise Echols, to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where the authorities pronounced him dead.
 
Moreover, the responders treated Cochran and a 23-year-old Carlsbad man who was seated in the front passenger seat at the scene for minor injuries.
 
Later on, police arrested Cochran on suspicion of DUI. They booked him into Vista Detention Facility and was expected to face charges for felony DUI and manslaughter.
