The fatal crash happened on August 5 near Fidalgo Island.

Washington State Patrol said a 2015 Toyota Highlander was moving westbound in the eastbound lanes on State Route 20. It struck a vehicle driving the correct direction (eastbound) head-on.

Authorities pronounced both of the drivers dead at the scene.

The Highlander driver was identified as a 76-year-old man from Oak Harbor, while the driver from the other vehicle was a 62-year-old woman from Mount Vernon. They were both wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
