Double Fatality after Vehicle Crashes into Tree near Torrey Del Mar Drive

SAN DIEGO, CA (September 15, 2018) – Two men were killed early Saturday morning following a solo-car crash on Carmel Valley Road. The identities of the victims were not released, pending the Medical Examiner’s investigation and family notification.

According to San Diego Police, they found a silver sedan wrapped around an uprooted tree at about 1:30 AM near Torrey Del Mar Drive. Events that led to the fatal crash were not immediately available.

Authorities believe that speed was a factor in the collision. The car appeared to have been traveling westbound at approximately 75 mph in a 50 mph zone. It was also noted that there was no indication that the car attempted to stop before slamming into the tree.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision and to identify other possible contributing factors. Additional information will be disclosed once they become available.
