Vehicle Splits in Half after Solo-Car Crash near 33rd Street, 1 Man to be Arrested
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 11, 2018) – Two men were injured early Wednesday morning following a suspected DUI crash on University Avenue.
According to the San Diego Police, the collision happened shortly before 1:00 AM near 33rd Street. Two 28-year-old men were traveling eastbound in a 2006 Ford Focus when the driver lost control of the vehicle. After jumping the sidewalk and slamming into a light pole, the car was torn in two from the impact.
Both men were sent to a local hospital and are expected to survive after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was suspected to be intoxicated at the time of the accident and will be arrested after being medically cleared.
No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
