Huntington Park Man and Another, Killed in Head-On Crash on Interstate 10

Palm Springs, CA (December 10, 2020) – On Wednesday, two people died in a deadly head-on crash on Interstate 10 west of Palm Springs.

Authorities received calls of a wrong-way crash on the freeway minuted before at 11:48 P.M.

When responders arrived, CHP identified one driver as a 33-year-old Huntington Park man who was driving a 2012 Toyota Camry. He was traveling eastbound on the freeway in the eastbound lanes.

Just then, he was struck by a 2020 Jeep Compass who was driving the wrong way on the freeway’s center divider and fast lane.

CHP spokeswoman Jackie Quintero said the Jeep immediately engulfed in flames. Unfortunately, the drivers of both vehicles died at the scene.

As a result of the crash, debris was scattered and the eastbound freeway lanes between Indian Canyon Drive and Highway 62 were closed for several hours.

Also, it caused a major traffic backup near Highway 62 and Interstate 10 eastbound.

Traffic was back up to speed and moving again by 5:45 a.m.

Meanwhile, the police did not provide the identities of any other motorists involved in the crash.

Police do not consider alcohol and/or drugs as a contributing factor. Please call the investigating officer, Officer Armendariz, at (760) 772-5300 if you have details about the incident.
