Children Hospitalized after Major Collision near El Cajon Boulevard

 
EL CAJON, CA (August 19, 2018) – Two kids were injured in a crash on 8 Freeway, early Sunday afternoon. Their names and ages were not immediately released to the public.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 12:20 PM near El Cajon Boulevard. The collision involved a truck and a Lexus, and reports showed that impact caused the truck to hit a wall head-on. Events leading up to the crash are currently unknown.
 
One child sustained major injuries, while another was rescued with unspecified injuries. Both were taken to the Rady Children’s Hospital for treatment. There is no update on their current medical condition.
 
The four right lanes of the highway were blocked for some time as officials conducted an investigation and crews cleared the road. No additional information has been provided to the public, as the authorities continue to investigate.
