Injured Driver Hospitalized in Vehicle Crash on Interstate 5

 
San Diego, CA (January 22, 2021) – On Thursday, two people were injured in a vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near downtown.
 
The crash took place at about 5:30 a.m. at the Pershing Drive exit.
 
The man in a white sedan drove the off-ramp when he lost control and overturned his vehicle leaving it lying on its roof blocking the ramp.
 
Then, a second car came and struck a wall in its attempt to avoid the overturned car.
 
At the same time, a man passed the wreckage and noticed the injured driver’s lack of footwear. The man gave him his brand new shoes.
 
Minutes later, responders took the injured driver to the hospital for treatment.
 
Moreover, the woman driving the car that struck the wall also sustained minor injuries from her airbag.
 
CHP did not disclose what caused the original crash, or the full extent of the man’s injuries. However, it was seen that he was alert and speaking with paramedics.
 
Meanwhile, the authorities closed the ramp until around 7:30 A.M.
