People Injured, Driver of Stolen Ford Ranger Arrested in Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 4

Concord, CA (November 13, 2020) – Two were hospitalized while police arrested a man driving a stolen Ford Ranger in a wrong-way crash on Highway 4.

The authorities took the fleeing driver, a 25-year-old Concord man to a Walnut Creek hospital.

They said his condition was immediately unknown. Additionally, he would be in police custody until he is medically cleared.

Further, police also said they will arrest him on suspicion of felony evading arrest resulting in injury and in connection with the stolen vehicle.

Meanwhile, the rescuers took the two people in the sedan that the suspect struck to a local hospital. They suffered minor injuries as a result of the car accident.

Concord police Sgt. Ollie Sansen was the sole police officer pursuing the motorist, said he tried to perform a traffic stop on suspicion of vehicle code infractions and a moving violation near Willow Pass Road and Landana Drive.

“The driver fled, took me on a pursuit on Willow Pass Road toward Highway 4,” Sansen said.

He terminated when the motorist drove the wrong way on the off-ramp and started driving westbound against eastbound traffic.

However, Sansen said the suspect driver continued to drive the wrong way on his own accord. It was roughly 1.5 miles before he crashed head-on with a white sedan at Highway 4 and Port Chicago Highway.

Similarly, the ConFire personnel responded to a report of a vehicle crash at about 9:30 PM. Also, they sent two engines, a truck, and three ambulances to Highway 4 East at Port Chicago Highway.

It is against the law to drive a stolen car.
