2 Injured in Collision of Sedan and Pickup Truck in Hemet Intersection

HEMET, CA (November 26, 2018) – Two people were injured after being involved in a 2-vehicle crash at an intersection in Hemet Thursday night.

According to the City of Hemet police and fire departments, the crash occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Thursday at the intersection of West Florida Avenue and Sanderson Avenue. It involved a Toyota sedan and a Dodge Ram pickup truck.

When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found the occupant of the pickup in the roadway, who was possibly ejected from the vehicle. The driver of the sedan was found unresponsive and trapped inside her mangled car. Firefighters used the “Jaws of Life” to extricate the injured woman from the vehicle.

Both injured parties were taken to University Health Care System in Moreno Valley for treatment and further tests. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

Officials temporarily closed a portion of the West Florida Avenue and Sanderson Avenue intersection, as vehicle parts and debris were strewn throughout the area. The roadway was reopened after both vehicles were towed away and debris was cleared from the scene.

The cause and events leading to the crash are being investigated by Hemet PD.
