Two Hospitalized in Crash on Highway 78 at Las Posas Road [SAN MARCOS, CA]

Early Morning Collision on Highway 78 in San Marcos Sends 2 to Hospital

 
SAN MARCOS, CA (May 19, 2019) – Two people were hospitalized following a traffic collision early Sunday morning in San Marcos.
 
The collision happened just after 3:00 a.m. on Highway 78 at Las Posas Road.
 
According to the CHP, a red Honda Accord hit a pickup truck. A silver BMW then ran over the debris from the initial crash, causing damage on the car.
 
Officers arrived and located one vehicle in the center divider and another one on the right shoulder. Multiple others were in the traffic lanes.
 
Responding paramedics transported two patients to Palomar Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
 
Fire crews closed the entire highway while they worked on the scene.
 
It is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
