1 Injured and 1 Detained after Bakersfield Motorcycle Accident

BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 3, 2020) – A person required hospitalization while the other got arrested after a motorcycle accident on Coffee Road.

At around 5:34 p.m. on December 31, Bakersfield Police Department officers came to the 200 block of Coffee Road after receiving a report of a vehicle and motorcycle collision.

Upon their arrival, they found out that a driver of a white SUV heading north on Coffee Road made “an unsafe lane change” and crashed with a male motorcyclist.

The SUV driver escaped the scene. Meanwhile, the motorcyclist sustained moderate to major injuries. Responders transported him to a local hospital.

Meanwhile, the authorities located the SUV abandoned nearby. They also found the driver “hiding in a restaurant.”

Authorities arrested the 44-year-old woman Trumonikia Fields-Johnson on suspicion of hit-and-run involving injury and driving on a suspended license.

The police also ruled out alcohol, drugs, and speed as factors in the crash. They are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact BPD at 661-327-7111.

Weaving in and out of lanes is dangerous. Always stay at your lane and be aware of the presence of other motorists around you. Pay attention and consider small vehicles like motorcycles and bicycles because these are more prone to road accidents than bigger vehicles.
