Truck Driver Injured in Train Crash on Del Norte Boulevard and Fifth Street [Oxnard, CA]

1 Hospitalized in Oxnard Train Accident on Del Norte Boulevard

 
OXNARD, CA (August 10, 2020) – Friday night, a truck driver from Oxnard sustained injuries in a train crash on Del Norte Boulevard.
 
The police received reports of a train and truck crash about 8:31 p.m. on Del Norte Boulevard and Fifth Street,
 
Upon investigation, the officers found out that a 55-year-old man drove his Chevy S-10 pickup truck south on Del Norte Boulevard.
 
According to police, the man went onto the railroad grade crossing, north of Fifth Street. Then, he made a right turn, heading west onto the tracks where his vehicle was stuck.
 
Afterward, a westbound Metrolink train started entering the intersection. Upon seeing the stuck vehicle, the train attempted to stop. Unfortunately, it couldn’t stop in time and hit the truck.
 
Responders quickly transported the seriously injured truck driver to Ventura County Medical Center in stable condition.
 
Meanwhile, the officers added that the Metrolink train occupants were uninjured. Upon the completion of the investigation, the train resumed on to the Oxnard Transit Center.
