1 Person Dead in Gilroy Auto Accident on State Highway 152 near Canada Road

GILROY, CA (September 28, 2023) – Tuesday morning, a tragic vehicle crash on State Highway 152 near Canada Road killed one person.

The incident happened at around 7:30 a.m. on eastbound State Highway 152, east of Canada Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, an eastbound 2021 Toyota RAV4 struck a harvester for still unknown reasons. Then, the Toyota continued driving and came to rest in a nearby field.

Moreover, a good Samaritan witnessed the crash and called 911, but the responding paramedics pronounced the Toyota driver, dead at the scene.

Also, responders transported a 76-year-old female passenger of the Toyota to Natividad Medical Center with major injuries. The 22-year-old driver of the harvester sustained no injuries in the crash.

Furthermore, officers do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
