Fatal Head-On Crash Involving Hay Squeeze on Highway 120 Leaves One Dead, Three Injured
San Joaquin County, CA (May 08, 2025) – A tragic traffic crash on Highway 120 left a person dead and 3 people hurt and hospitalized.
According to authorities, the frightening crash happened around 4 p.m. on Highway 120 near Sexton Road, west of Escalon in San Joaquin County.
Reports say that a head-on collision involving a Toyota SUV and a hay squeeze claimed the life of the SUV’s driver and left three others seriously injured, including two juveniles.
For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota SUV veered into the opposite lane, colliding head-on with the hay squeeze. The impact killed the driver of the Toyota at the scene. Two juvenile passengers in the SUV suffered major injuries, and emergency responders rushed them to a nearby hospital. The driver of the hay squeeze also sustained severe injuries.
Authorities closed the highway for several hours, redirecting traffic at Brennan Road to the east and Van Allen Road to the west. The road reopened at 8:58 p.m.

What to Do Following a Deadly Traffic Crash?
The sudden and tragic loss of a loved one in a traffic accident is an incredibly painful experience. In addition to the emotional toll, families are often faced with significant financial challenges, particularly when the deceased was a primary breadwinner or played a central role in supporting the household. When a deadly collision happens, pursuing a wrongful death claim becomes essential to secure justice, financial compensation, and a sense of closure.
A wrongful death claim allows surviving family members to seek compensation for various expenses incurred as a result of the fatal crash. These can include but are not limited to funeral costs, medical bills for treatment before death, and loss of income that the deceased would have provided. Without compensation, the bereaved might struggle with financial stability. A wrongful death claim ensures that those financial burdens are addressed.
Beyond financial recovery, a wrongful death claim also serves a crucial role in holding negligent parties accountable for their actions. Whether the fatal accident was caused by a distracted driver, someone driving under the influence, or poor road maintenance, the claim forces the responsible party to answer for their actions. This sense of accountability can be a pivotal step for grieving families, who may find some solace in knowing that the responsible party has been legally held liable for the loss.
Ultimately, while no amount of compensation can replace the loss of a loved one, a wrongful death claim can offer financial support, justice, and a path toward healing to the bereaved.
