The incident happened at around 3:45 a.m. on the southbound 101 Freeway near Alvarado Street.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle struck a female pedestrian who walked into the traffic lanes for still unknown reasons after having car trouble and stopping on the freeway.
