Injuries Reported in Fatal Fiery Collision near Highway 99
Butte County, CA (August 7, 2023) On Sunday afternoon, a 2-vehicle head-on crash on Highway 149 left 2 people dead and 3 hurt.
According to Cal Fire, the fatal fiery collision happened around 2 p.m. south of Highway 99, near Openshaw Road.
Reports say that a southbound vehicle crossed over the center median and collided head-on with a northbound truck. One of the vehicles burst into flames after the crash.
Authorities say that the truck driver and passenger were killed in the collision, while the driver and 2 passengers of the car suffered major injuries and were transported to the hospital.
The collision closed all northbound lanes of Highway 149 at Openshaw Road for roughly 3 hours.
