1 Person Dead in Bakersfield Auto Accident on Union Avenue and East California Avenue

BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 12, 2025) – Tuesday night, a tragic DUI crash on Union Avenue and East California Avenue killed one person.

The incident happened at around 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of Union Avenue and East California Avenue.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, an eastbound Dodge Charger struck a northbound BMW that ran a red light at the intersection.

Moreover, responders rushed the male driver of the Dodge to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Then, paramedics transported the driver of the BMW with moderate injuries and a male passenger of the vehicle with severe injuries, to a hospital for treatment.

Furthermore, officers believe that speed and alcohol played a role in the deadly incident.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
