Traffic Delayed after Banning Car Collision on Sunset Avenue
BANNING, CA (March 9, 2020) – A big rig collision on Thursday morning stalled traffic on 10 Freeway in Banning.
According to reports, the collision between two big rig trucks caused a traffic back up stretching for more than five miles. Another factor that worsened the jam was the road construction projects amidst the incident.
By 6:00 a.m., drivers suffered bumper to bumper traffic from Sunset Avenue to the east of Hargrave Street. Fortunately, at 7:00 a.m., the traffic began moving at full speed again.
The 11:45 p.m. crash led authorities to issue a SigAlert. However, the lanes reopened at 1:38 a.m.
No injuries were reported in the collision.
The reports also revealed that the incident happened on a road where construction crews have maintained the freeway’s two inside lanes for the 10 Freeway Tuneup closed. According to the reports, crews were replacing concrete and working on road improvements 24/7.
