Auburn, CA (November 22, 2024) On Thursday evening, a pedestrian was fatally struck in a horrific traffic crash on Interstate 80.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the tragic crash happened on eastbound Interstate 80.

Reports say that a pedestrian struck and killed near Russell Road Thursday night.

Authorities reports that a pedestrian attempting to cross the freeway from the westbound to eastbound lanes was struck by a vehicle.

The driver involved stayed at the scene and is fully cooperating with authorities as the investigation continues.

Police closed the eastbound lanes of I-80, redirecting drivers to the Russell Road exit with re-entry available at Foresthill Road.
