According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the deadly collision happened at about 8:34 p.m. on I-680 in San Jose.
Reports say that the fatal crash disrupted traffic on Interstate 680, causing the complete closure of southbound lanes. Authorities began diverting traffic onto Berryessa Road following the incident.
CHP reopened one lane at 9:45 p.m., with all lanes fully operational again by 11:20 p.m. Officials have yet to disclose the number of casualties or injuries involved.
Drivers were advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
