Traumatic Traffic Accident on Highway 101 Led to Fatality [Camarillo, XA]

(January 2, 2025) Early Tuesday morning, a 40-year-old Oxnard man was killed in a frightening traffic accident on Highway 101.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash in Camarillo happened at about 1 a.m..

Reports say that an Oxnard man died following a two-vehicle crash on northbound Highway 101.

Authorities say that the collision occurred shortly before 1 a.m. north of Carmen Drive.

Witnesses stated that a black 2007 Lexus IS 250 was speeding northbound when it made an unsafe turn to the right, striking a concrete wall.

The impact caused the Lexus to roll over into traffic lanes. Moments later, a gray 2010 Ford Mustang traveling northbound struck the disabled Lexus before crashing into the center divider’s guardrail.

Emergency responders transported the Lexus driver to Ventura County Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have not yet released his identity, pending family notification.

The Mustang driver fled the scene on foot and remains at large. CHP officials searched local hospitals for walk-in patients but have not located the individual.

Investigators are working to determine whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. The incident prompted hours-long lane closures, with northbound Highway 101 reopening around 9 a.m.
