Traci Torres Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 152 [LOS BANOS, CA]

Traci Torres Dead, Cynthia Gallo Injured in Los Banos Car Accident

 
LOS BANOS, CA (June 17, 2019) – A woman was killed following a wrong-way crash Monday afternoon on Highway 152 in Los Banos, CHP officials said.
 
The crash happened around 1:56 p.m. on the westbound direction of Highway 152 near Patton Road.
 
According to reports, a 1997 Mercury Cougar was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of Highway 152 at an unknown speed. After that, a 2014 Honda Accord was heading westbound approaching the Mercury at 72 mph.
 
The Honda then moved to the left and collided with the Mercury. The Mercury collided with a 2014 Volvo tractor-trailer that was traveling westbound in the second lane. The impact caused the Mercury to split into two, ejecting and killing the driver.
 
Merced County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Traci Marie Torres, 49, of Los Banos.
 
The driver of the Honda, a 51-year-old Cynthia Gallo of Clovis, was airlifted to Memorial North Hospital in Modesto with moderate injuries. The truck driver, a 35-year-old Manoj K. Sharma of Fresno, was not injured.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
