Two Killed and Two Injured in Head-On Collision on Harmony Road near Hinsdale Drive
FORT COLLINS, CO (February 11, 2018) – On Sunday morning around 11:40 AM, a fatal head-on collision occurred on Harmony Road near Hinsdale Drive.
Traci Salazar, 32, was driving her two children in a 2005 Pontiac Vibe sedan, going west on the 600 block of Harmony Rd, when she crossed over the center turn lane. The Pontiac crashed into a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by 42-year-old Brian Sauer of Fort Collins.
Emergency personnel and police officials arrived at the crash site, and pronounced Salazar dead on scene. Both children were seriously injured and taken to the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland for treatment. Seven-year-old Alika Salazar was later pronounced dead. Mother and daughter were reported to die from multiple blunt forces, according to the Larimer County coroner’s office.
Sauer suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the Poudre Valley Hospital. He was reportedly released from care.
Harmony Road was closed between Larkbunting Drive ad Starflower Drive, for several hours as officials investigated. Even the sidewalks were closed, as traffic was diverted to another route in the south-central Fort Collins area.
A GoFundMe page was set up for the Salazar family to help with funeral and medical expenses.
