Cerritos Man Killed in Chain-Reaction Crash on San Gabriel Freeway Identified
NORWALK, CA (July 2, 2019) – Authorities identified 52-year-old Tony Lydell McCray as the Cerritos man killed in a crash involving two cars and a big rig on 605 Freeway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Alondra Boulevard, at about 3:00 AM. A 2010 Kia Soul failed to slow down for stopped traffic and slammed into the rear of a 1995 Toyota Camry. The impact of the collision caused the Toyota to hit the 2018 Freightliner truck in front of it.
Emergency responders pronounced McCray, who was not secured in a seatbelt, dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the Toyota driver, 68-year-old Manuel Guerrero of La Puente, suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized. The driver of the big rig, identified as 57-year-old Ki Ho Baek of La Puente, did not sustain injuries.
