Tony Lopez and Jose Carbajal Killed in FM 2221 Vehicle Collision [La Joya, TX]

La Joya, TX (June 2, 2023) – On Thursday, Tony Lopez, 39, of Weslaco, and Jose Carbajal, 25, of Sullivan City, lost their lives in an FM 2221 vehicle collision.

The authorities received the crash report at about 4:58 a.m. in the area of the 3 Mile Line involving a Mustang and a tractor-trailer.

Investigating officers stated that Carbajal was driving the Mustang while Lopez was the passenger. They were northbound when their vehicle struck the tractor-trailer on its side.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is assisting in the investigation of the FM 2221 vehicle collision.
