Tomice Fryman Arrested in Horrific Hit-and-Run Crash on Westside Parkway [Bakersfield, CA]

1 Person Dead in Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident on Westside Parkway near Mohawk Street

BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 5, 2025) – Saturday morning, authorities arrested Tomice Fryman after a horrific hit-and-run crash on Westside Parkway.

The incident happened at around 6:23 a.m. on eastbound Westside Parkway near the Mohawk Street off-ramp.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, a vehicle struck a male pedestrian and then fled the scene without stopping to provide aid.

Moreover, authorities confirmed that the victim died at the scene.

Furthermore, BPD managed to locate the vehicle involved in the crash in the 7300 block of Stockdale Highway at around 3:30 p.m. on the same day. Then, officers arrested the driver of the vehicle, identified as 51-year-old Fryman, for charges related to hit and run causing death and driving with a suspended license.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
