1 Dead and 2 Hurt in Los Angeles Auto Accident on Siver Lake Boulevard
LOS ANGELES, CA (June 18, 2020) – Late Wednesday morning, Timothy Stirton died and two others suffered injuries in a high-speed crash on Silver Lake Boulevard.
The firefighters first responded to a rollover crash at about 10:30 a.m. at Silver Lake Boulevard and Effie Street.
However, a dark-colored SUV drove recklessly at a high rate of speed into opposite lanes of traffic to drove past other cars.
A bystander revealed that the SUV traveled at least 75 mph during the crash. This speed is more than twice the posted speed limit.
According to witnesses, the SUV struck scooter rider, Timothy Stirton . Afterward, the driver lost control, struck a tree, and crashed into the front of the newly reopened L&E Oyster Bar. Then, the vehicle came to a stop on its side.
Furthermore, the LAFD revealed that the crash resulted in one fatality, that of 68-year-old Stirton.
Meanwhile, responders took a 72-year-old woman and 52-year-old man (from the SUV) to a hospital with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation. Furthermore, no witness accounts have been confirmed.
Meanwhile, the crash temporarily shut down a stretch of Silver Lake Boulevard during the investigation.
L.A. County Building and Safety Department inspectors also responded to the crash scene to evaluate the structure.
