One Killed and Four Hospitalized in Two-Car Crash on Ramona Expressway
HEMET, CA (March 24, 2018) – A two-vehicle rollover collision on Mountain Avenue, took the life of a man and hospitalized four others, late Saturday evening.
The victim was identified as 23-year-old Timothy Gibbons, a resident of Hemet.
Officials arrived at the scene of the accident around 10:32 PM on Mountain, about a hundred yards west of Soboba Road. According to reports, Gibbons was driving in a Ford Focus, when the vehicle lost control and veering across the road into oncoming traffic.
The Ford crashed into a blue Chevrolet Z-71 pickup truck.
The impact of the collision caused the Chevrolet to rollover into an adjacent dirt field. Early reports stated that the driver was ejected from the truck, but investigations suggested that he might have self-extricated. A total of four people, including the driver and three passengers, were transported to a nearby hospital for the minor to moderate injuries.
Gibbons sustained injuries and was transported to the Riverside University Health System Medical Center. He later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead around 11:54 PM.
Alcohol was initially considered as a factor in the crash but was later ruled out. Investigation on this fatak accident is still ongoing, and no other information is available at this time.
