Man Going to Work at Venice Whole Foods Store Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Lincoln Boulevard
VENICE, CA (November 15, 2019) – A man was killed after being hit by a truck on his way to work Friday evening in Venice, Los Angeles.
The fatal incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Lincoln Boulevard at Rose Avenue.
According to police, a 43-year-old Timoteo Martinez Ildefonso was crossing Lincoln Boulevard on his way back to work at Whole Foods. A red pickup truck that was making a left turn near the intersection then struck him.
Witnesses told investigators the driver stopped and tried to talk to Ildefonso as he returned to work.
Ildefonso was apparently unaware he had been gravely injured. His spleen was ruptured by the impact. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Police said the case is not considered a hit-and-run since the driver of the truck stopped after hitting Ildefonso. They are still trying to track down the driver to find out exactly what happened.
A GoFundMe page has been established to help Ildefonso’s family with funeral and living expenses.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
