Thomas Berry Dies in Disastrous Collision on FM 90 [Canton, TX]

Canton, TX (May 23, 2023) On Friday afternoon, 8-year-old Thomas Berry of Canton, was killed in a disastrous collision on FM 90.

According to Texas DPS, the 2-vehicle crash on FM 47 also injured 48-year-old Tara Lynn Wright-Berry of Canton, and 31-year-old Miguel Angel Castro-Govea of Crowley,

Reports say that at around 1:20 p.m., an eastbound 2017 Dodge Ram pickup collided with a 2017 Nissan Titan pickup, driven by Wright-Berry. Officials say that Thomas was a passenger in the pickup.

DPS says that Castro-Govea failed to stop for a stop sign at the crossing, which led to the disastrous crash into the pickup’s passenger side.

Officials say that Thomas was rushed to a hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Thomas’s mother was transported to CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances in Tyler, while Castro-Govea was taken to CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances in Canton.

Later on, police arrested Miguel Angel Castro-Govea for criminally negligent homicide. Officials booked him into the Van Zandt County Jail.
