BMW Goes Airborne and Crashes into Palm Trees on Intersection of 54th Avenue and Jackson Street
THERMAL, CA (January 24, 2018) – A crash involving a BMW on the intersection of 54th Avenue and Jackson Street was reported early Wednesday morning at 2:26 AM.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a car traveling westbound just west of Coachella, lost control and went airborne. The BMW then crashed into six palm trees near the road.
Police and Cal Fire responded to the scene to find an overturned car with severe damage, and two occupants that were pronounced dead on the scene. Neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the fatal accident. Their identities have not yet been released to the public.
The intersection remained open, but Avenue 54, east of Jackson Street, was blocked off for several hours while officials investigated and cleaned the road of debris from this solo-vehicle accident on 54th Avenue.
